Accepted cage characteristics - according to IATA (International Air Transport Association) requirements:
- The closing system is metallic, with four-point fastening.
- The metal door completely covers one end of the door.
- The locking system and door hinges go over the door profile by 1.6 cm.
- The cage is provided with four holes next to the door and allow it to be sealed, but also to be fixed in plastic collars.
- The dimensions of the door meshes and ventilation slots are small enough so that there is no way for the animal's muzzle or paw to get caught in them (2.5 cm square for dogs and 1.9 cm for cats)
- The floor is solid and sealed. The floor of the cage is dry, being covered with a litter.
- The door has a left-right opening to ensure the easiest operation.
- The food and water containers are fixed to the door and allow them to be filled easily.
- There are no sharp sides/edges that can injure the animal during handling in airports or during air transport.
- The two half-cases are removable, and their fastening is secured with screws and clamps.
- According to IATA rules, the total ventilated area of the cage is not more than 16% of the total lateral surfaces of the cage.
